The $129B Dividend: Corporate Liquidity in the OBBA Era

By early 2026, the One Big Beautiful Act (OBBA) has fundamentally restructured the US corporate tax landscape. The act provides an estimated $129 billion in tax relief through 2027 by making permanent 100% bonus depreciation and immediate R&D expensing. For investment managers, this is no longer a speculative tailwind but a realized surge in corporate cash flow that is being channeled into domestic re-shoring and autonomous manufacturing.

The technical alpha in 2026 lies in "Effective Tax Rate (ETR) Dispersion." Managers are identifying firms that utilize the OBBA’s 35% Advanced Manufacturing Credit to push their GAAP ETR below 15%. Furthermore, the act’s shift from EBIT to EBITDA-based interest deductibility has unlocked approximately 15% in additional debt capacity for capital-intensive sectors. This "Liquidity Lift" is supporting a wave of M&A and share buybacks, even as the Federal Reserve maintains a "Neutral Rate" near 3.25%. Managers who prioritize companies with high domestic capex are outperforming those still reliant on globalized supply chains.
